New Irish bar Nelly Mulligans is the closest you can get to the Green Isle without leaving Blackpool

Nelly Mulligans oozes a charm unlike anywhere in the resort.

Blackpool’s newest Irish bar has been a hit with revellers from the moment it opened its doors for the VIP extravaganza.

And it is so easy to see why. Nelly Mulligans oozes a charm unlike anywhere in the resort.

It’s warm and inviting and full of Irish charm.

Last Friday, I was out celebrating a special friend’s birthday and I insisted we make our way down to the newest offering on Market Street.

And I’m so glad we did. The bar was packed and full of atmosphere with the crowds enjoying the excellent live music. I’m reliably informed over the past couple of weeks since the bar opened, entry has had to be on a one in and one out basis - as demand has been so high.

But, luckily for me and my party we didn’t have to wait and we were able to dive straight in.

The staff, dressed in Irish tweed, couldn’t have been nicer and were a joy to watch as they worked quickly and efficiently to ensure customers were served swiftly.

I’m not a Guinness drinker, but those around me who were, assured me their tipples were “the best they have had in a long time”.

To get us in the party mood we decided to enjoy some shots along with our drinks. The barman insisted we try the house special “a baby Guinness” and I’ve got to say - it transported me right back to my youth where this would have been my regular shot of choice.

It’s lovely to witness a new venture being so popular. If we want more local and successful businesses we need to support them.

The team at Nelly Mulligans have already planned to extend their live music schedule due to public demand.
