New facility opened to cope with increased number of pupils
A state-of-the-art facility for reception and year three to six pupils at Heyhouses School, which has been in use since September, was opened and dedicated by the Dean of Westminster Abbey, the Very Rev John Hall.
The single storey building fronting Clarendeon Road North, St Annes includes 15 classrooms, a hall and studio, a library, a multi-use resource area, kitchen, staff room, office accommodation, an interview room and toilets.

The £4.25m project, funded and managed by Lancashire County Council and built by Conlon Construction, was needed to cope with growing demand for extra places.
The official opening, attended by many former pupils and staff, including exheadteachers Jean Gen and Clive Barnes, was preceded by a service in St Annes Parish Church and a procession back to school via St Annes Road East.
Headteacher Elizabeth Hodgson said: “It was a wonderful day – a very special event with which the children were thrilled and left us all with smiles on our faces.
“We were delighted that so many former pupils and teachers came along and thanks to everyone who helped make it such a successful day.
“The new building has made such a huge difference to what we can offer to pupils, parents and the community.”
