Armed with a map and answer sheet for two different routes, an easy one and more tricky one, families explored the park to locate different picture markers .

There are lots of different categories and this week’s was based on transport and showed lots of different ways to travel boat, cars and skis.

The second route was more tricky and instead of finding pictures and writing down what they see, children had to answer multiple choice questions on the subject of space exploration.

Families flocked to the park to take part in the activity and had fun together.

No experience of map reading is necessary for these events and parents are encouraged to join in the fun!

Park Development officer Kate Baird said: “It’s always popular and well attended, especially during half term.

“We have themed days for Halloween, Easter and Christmas too.”

The next Xplorer event is March 18. Drop in from 1pm until 3pm at the park pavilion at Memorial Park.
