Naafi Cafe plan for Fylde coast service veterans

A new social and support service has been launched for servicemen and women on the Fylde coast.

Veteran’s Wednesday will take pace each week at Cleveleys Community Centre in Beach Road, Cleveleys from 11am - 3pm.

And it will have a Naafi Cafe serving refreshments at reasonable prices.

The idea is to support former service people and current ones with benefit NHA and housing advice, and allow them to meet new friends and support colleagues.

One of the organisers Coun Andrea Kay said: “We have a lot of servicemen and women on the Fylde coast and lots of ex-services people, many of whom are on their own and many of whom need help with various things.

“This Wednesday afternoon will let people get together for companionship and community spirit.”

She said that Fleetwood Town FC were going to be providing a health and fitness session between 11 and 1pm at the centre which used to be known as the Frank Townsend Centre.
