Help The North features musicians from across Lancashire, including Nick Latham from Marton in Blackpool, as well as schoolchildren, a sing language choir, footballers and Morecambe FC’s Christie The Cat mascot.

The song It Won’t Be Long Til Christmas was recorded in Lancaster last week and has already entered the charts thanks to sales on iTunes and Bandcamp, where it costs 99p - and is on the brink of hitting the top 100 on the former’s site.

Nick said: “Some of the guys who started it are my best friends and asked me to play bass on the song, and I work with singer-songwriter Molly Warburton, so I got her on board too.

“I was so into the project though that I got fully invovled and have taken on the social media promotion too.”

A music video has also been released on Youtube, produced by Lucie Carrington, charting the process leading up to the recording event at The Grand in Lancaster.

It Won’t Be Long Til Christmas was released on Friday and all proceeds will go to The Community Foundation for Lancashire Flood Appeal and Cumbria Flood Appeal.
