The issues came to the attention of Blackpool North and Cleveleys MP Paul Maynard MP when he moved to a new office in the Blackpool Technology Management Centre at Faraday Way.
The move prompted several calls from electricity supply companies.

Mr Maynard said after agreeing a deal with British Gas Business , his office received a call from an organisation called Commercial Support Services claiming they worked with British Gas and needed some information from the metre.
He said: “My staff member got a little suspicious as we had just signed up with British Gas and had provided all the requested details.
“After asking a few questions to find out the true intent of the call the caller got quite angry and aggressive.

“My concern is that information may have been supplied that could have been sold on or used in a way to mislead.
“After raising this matter with British Gas, Ofgem, and the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy I am now more aware than ever of the lengths some firms will go to.
“I would warn all businesses who are contacted by these third parties to ask if they have signed up to British Gas’ Broker Framework Agreement.”
