Missing man could be dangerous

Police are appealing for information about a missing man who could pose a risk to the public.

Andrew Westbury, 41, was last seen at a care home on Westbourne Road, Lancaster, at around 6pm yesterday (May 10th).

He has been residing voluntarily in the care home since being convicted of a sexual assault earlier this year.

He suffers from mental illness and is on medication which he needs to take regularly and is believed not to have in his possession.

People are urged to contact police immediately if they know of his whereabouts.

Sergeant Stephen Craig, of Lancaster Police, said: “Mr Westbury should have returned to the home at approximately 11pm last night but did not appear.

“He is mentally unwell and is at risk of displaying violent or sexualised behaviour.

“We are now appealing for help from the community in locating him. However, we would urge members of the public not to approach him.

“Anybody with information as to his whereabouts should contact us straight away.”

Mr Westbury is described as white, of thin build, with short, grey hair. He was last seen wearing a grey tracksuit top and grey tracksuit trousers.

He also has links to the Ingleton, Dent and Bentham areas.
