“Indeed, some very unseasonal weather during Monday and Tuesday for all of North West England means the Met Office has now issued a Yellow Warning of Wind.”

The warning is in place from 4pm Monday until 6pm Tuesday, with gusts of 50mph expected inland, and 60-65mph across the Irish Sea and on exposed coastal areas.

Mr Hammond added there could be travel disruption due to fallen trees on the roads.

On a more cheerful note, from Wednesday onwards, sunshine and good weather is predicted.
