Meet your future doctors...

Eight students from Blackpool Sixth Form College have made it through the demanding selection processes used by UK medical and dental schools.

Future medical professionals Conor Jones , Seyi Jesusanmi, Francesca Oram, Rachel Allison, Rory Pinkney, James Bartholomew, Hollie Murray and Katie Burrell impressed universities with their outstanding predicted A-level results.

Conor, 18, from Poulton, was offered a place at the prestigious Oxford University thanks to his experience working at a local care home.

Seyi, 18, from Poulton, was offered a place to study medicine at Durham University after impressing decision-makers with his volunteer work with the British Heart Foundation.

Francesca Oram, 18, from North Shore, and Rachel Allison, 18, from Carleton were offered places at Liverpool Medical School.

Rory, 17, from Poulton, received an offer from Plymouth Medical School, and James, 17, from Cleveleys, was offered a place to read dentistry at Leeds.

He said: “We had to do multiple mini interviews which involved nine separate tasks in a short space of time.”

Hollie, 18, from Staining, was offered a place by Bristol University’s Medical School.

She said: “There’s been an incredibly high level of support for us.”

Katie, 19, from Carleton, was given unconditional offers by all four medical schools.

She said: “As someone who will be the first in the family to attend university, and when starting sixth form had no idea how to become a doctor, to have received four unconditional offers to study medicine is still somewhat unbelievable.

“It really goes to show how the staff went above and beyond, opening my eyes to careers that I had never thought I was capable of before, and then gave relentless support every step of the way.”
