Blackpool Council’s planning committee is being recommended to agree an application by Denmack Holdings for four detached bungalows on land off Stockydale Road.

If councillors are minded to approve the scheme when they meet tomorrow, a final decision would be made by planning officers subject to legal agreements.

Eighteen objections have been submitted to the plans, with the main concerns being around the capacity of the semi-rural road to carry any additional traffic which might be generated.

But planners say housing is already being built in the area and the scheme is “acceptable”.

Outline approval has been granted already for houses on land at the nearby former Baguley’s Garden Centre which includes homes on Stockydale Road.

A report to the planning committee says: “As such, while local resident concerns relating to compliance with planning policy, the impact on the character of the area, the need for housing and the loss of green space are noted, the proposal could not reasonably be resisted on the matter of principle.”
