Man's body recovered from sea after overnight rescue search in Blackpool

Police and sea rescue teams were called out at 1.30am to reports of a man in the sea near the Metropole Hotel.
Coastguard and RNLI crews searched tirelessly through the night before a man's body was spotted in the water at 5.40am.

Hide AdThe body was recovered and sea rescue teams stood down following the four-hour search.
A police spokesperson said: "We were called at around 1.30am this morning to reports a man had gone into the sea near to the Metropole Hotel in Blackpool.
"Emergency services attended and searches were carried out.
"Sadly, shortly after 5.40am a body was recovered from the water.
"The man's family has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.

Hide Ad"The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner."
A spokesperson for Lytham St Anne's RNLI said: "We were called out at 1.48am this morning to assist Blackpool Police, Coastguard, Blackpool & Fleetwood RNLI in the search for a missing male in the sea off Blackpool North Pier.
"We searched all morning until we were stood down at 5.50am."
