Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, asked for the case against Smith to be heard at crown court.

Defence lawyer, Brett Chappell, did not ask for bail for his client and said Smith would indicate a not guilty plea.

Smith was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on April 27 by Blackpool magistrates.
