On the evening of Friday July 31 2015, the 35-year-old victim agreed to go to Brierley’s home address.

Brierley attempted to have sex with the victim who was in and out of consciousness. She was punched and pinned down by Brierley who knelt across her arms.

While she was unconscious, he carried her to bed and sexually assaulted her.

The victim fled the address when she woke up the morning after.

The attack was filmed by Brierley on his mobile phone which was later seized by police who found the footage of him committing the sexual offences.

Investigating officer DC Rick Bartlett said: “Brierley committed a brutal and sickening attack on the woman, sexually assaulting and hitting her repeatedly.

“I commend the victim for her bravery in coming forward and hope that today’s sentencing will provide her with some type of closure so she can start to move forward with her life.”
