Man jailed for his role in £1,800 drink thefts

Darren Wilson, 36, of Charles Street, Blackpool, admitted five thefts from Co-op stores involving more than £1,800 of spirits.

Wilson and two woman stole from stores in Abergele and Prestatyn, two in Preston and one in Fleetwood where Wilson was caught.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, told Blackpool Magistrates :”The crimes in Lancashire were committed at a time Wilson was on bail.He sent a sick note to the court saying he was not fit enough to attend – but he was fit enough to go out shoplifting.”

Wilson also admitted breaching a community order by doing one hour’s unpaid work out of 150. He was jailed for 30 weeks.
