He was bailed for pre-sentence reports and will be sentenced at a later date by District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Eddie Harrison, prosecuting, said Davidson and his partner had been in the Number 15 pub, St Annes, on September 20.

Davidson accused her of flirting and believed one of his friends liked her. He grabbed her in a bearhug then dropped her and she tripped up.

On January 5, police were called to a report of a disturbance between Davidson and his partner at her flat on Clifton Street, Lytham.

A small amount of amphetamine was found on him when he was searched.

Hugh Pond, defending, said the couple had a long-term but volatile relationship which was expected to continue.

At the time of the assault, Davidson and his girlfriend had both had a lot to drink.

Since being arrested, Davidson had curbed his alcohol intake.
