A 27-year-old man from Poulton has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving.

Police are now appealing for two people who were at the scene, including a nurse who treated the victim, to come forward.

Sgt Nigel Ralphson, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “I’d urge anyone that saw the black Fiat Punto in the area around the time of the collision to get in touch as soon as possible to help us establish how the collision occurred.

“We would also like to speak to a woman who was at the scene immediately after the collision and tended to the casualty. She identified herself as a nurse.

“Also, there was a man present who said he was a mountain ranger and again we would like to speak to him.”

The 27-year-old has been bailed by police until March 7 while investigations continue. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on 101.
