Richard Thistleton,28, of Manor Way, Cleveleys, is accused of causing death by careless driving after Anne Peoples was knocked down on April 28 last year.

Blackpool Magistrates’ Court heard Thistleton was driving a Vauxhall Astra van along Victoria Road West, Thornton, when it was involved in a accident with two pedestrians.

Anne Peoples (pictured) received multiple injuries and later died in Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

A 51-year-old pedestrian received minor injuries in the incident, which took place at 7.30pm at a set of traffic lights.

Thistleton pleaded not guilty to the offence and district judge Jeff Brailsford ruled the matter was too serious to be dealt with at a magistrates court.

Granting bail, he sent the matter to Preston Crown Court, where Thistleton is due to appear on November 18.
