Man dead after Warton crash

A man in his 20s has died following a crash in Warton, police have confirmed.

Officers closed Lytham Road between Lodge Lane and West End Lane for more than six hours after the incident at 9pm last night.

The man was driving a Citroen Saxo car towards Lytham when it collided with a Mercedes Benz car travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz, a local man in his 20s, and his passenger, a woman also in her 20s, were taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “The incident happened just past the Great Birchwood campsite.

“The Citroen Saxo was travelling towards Lytham with the Mercedes coming in the opposite direction.

“The driver of the Saxo is the one who has died. He is a local man in his 20s.

“The driver and passenger of the Mercedes Benz were also injured and taken to hospital with some fractures.

“Officers closed the road at 9.15pm and it re-opened at 3.30am this morning.”
