Man arrested after falling asleep while revving car

Police in South Shore arrested a man this morning on suspicion of drink driving after he was found asleep at the wheel of a stationary car - while revving the engine.

Immediate response officers were in the vicinity of Lytham Road at 4am when they were alerted to the sound of a poor engine revving up for around five minutes.

The officers approached a Mini at the side of the road with its engine blaring.

The driver had fallen asleep, in what appeared to be a drunken state, with his foot flat down on the pedal.

After providing a sample of breath at the roadside, which allegedly read 87, the man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and having no insurance.
