Man accused of stabbing tenant over loud music

A man accused of stabbing a fellow flat tenant in a row over loud dance music at a house party has made his first appearance at court.

Peter Gillett is alleged to have stabbed a neighbour in the arm and slashed his head with a steak knife.

Gillett, a 22-year-old bricklayer, of St Annes Road East, St Annes, is charged with malicious wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

The offence is alleged to have taken place in the complainant’s flat in St Annes Road East about 6am on July 20.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, asked for the case to go to crown court.

Defence lawyer, Brett Chappell, said his client would plead not guilty to the offence.

Gillett was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on August 13 by District Judge Pamela Baldwin sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
