Loose wire sees Prom shut down
Journeys were disrupted after a wire came loose from Blackpool Illuminations.
A section of Queen’s Promenade outside The Doric Hotel was closed off by police at around 8am after reports that a wire was dangling over the road.
A police spokeswoman said: “The road was closed down the side of the hotel, but by 8.25am Blackpool Council was at the scene and the southbound side of the road is now open.”
A Blackpool Council spokesman said: “Cars were advised to approach with caution. The wire has now been fixed by Blackpool Illuminations workers.”
