“This is a family business with over 50 years of history, and we wanted to keep it exactly where it belongs: in the family”

Now 34, Simon has worked at the company since he was 15 but has no taken the reins officially from his dad Brian, 69, who is still involved on a part-time basis.

Brian has been involved at the firm since he was a young man, working alongside and then over from his father Fred, who established the business in 1974.

“This is a family business with over 50 years of history, and we wanted to keep it exactly where it belongs: in the family,” said Brian.

“We are proud of our service, friendly faces, great value and being a name people know and trust - but the plan is to bring even bigger savings, expand our range and stock more of the brands and beds people know and love, including favourites like Silentnight.”

”It’s the same Berry’s Beds you’ve known for years… just with a few more beds, a few more bargains and a whole lot of excitement about what comes next.

“It was time for Simon to take over and for me to step back a little but I am still involved and hope to be for some time yet. My dad worked at the company until he was 79.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported Berry’s Beds over the years, and especially everyone who has supported us through this new chapter.”

Berry’s Beds is solely based at Waterloo Road, with its previous Lytham operation now run by sons of Brian’s brother Raymond and known as the Lytham Bed Company.
