'Compassion and integrity' - Lancashire Police welcome 63 new officers as latest recruits sworn in

“The attestation ceremony remains one of the defining occasions in every officer’s policing career.”

Lancashire Police has welcomed 63 new police constables following two attestation ceremonies at the force’s headquarters in Hutton.

The ceremonies, held on Tuesday, October 6, and Thursday, October 8, saw the recruits formally sworn in as part of the force’s tenth Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) intake.

The new officers made their pledges in the presence of a presiding magistrate, members of the Chief Officer Team (COT) and representatives from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).

Chief Constable Sacha Hatchett attended both ceremonies, joined by Assistant Chief Constable Stasia Osiowy and Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw at the first ceremony on Tuesday. T/ACC Hassan Khan and Deputy Commissioner Kimberly Whitehead attended the ceremony on Thursday.

The attestation ceremony marks an important milestone in the recruits’ policing careers, with each officer pledging to uphold the values and principles expected of everyone within the organisation. Having sworn an oath to the King, the new recruits have now been granted their policing powers, including the power to arrest.

Chief Constable Sacha Hatchett said: “The attestation ceremony remains one of the defining occasions in every officer’s policing career. The presentation of warrant cards to our newest officers, in the presence of family and friends, serves as a powerful reminder of the values and responsibilities at the heart of policing.

“Having successfully completed a rigorous selection process, these officers have shown determination and commitment, and we are confident they will serve the people of Lancashire with professionalism, compassion and integrity.

“This ceremony signifies more than the start of a career. It reflects a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable people, engaging with communities, and leading with honesty and transparency. Entrusted with the responsibility of upholding the law, these officers must consistently demonstrate the highest standards of conduct.

“I look forward to seeing them progress in their careers and contribute positively to communities across Lancashire.”

Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw also welcomed the new recruits, highlighting the importance of visible neighbourhood policing and tackling the issues that matter most to local residents.

He said: "It’s heartening to see the passion our new officers bring as they start their careers in policing, working hard to tackle crime and protect the people of Lancashire. The public rightly expect to see more officers out on our streets - visible, engaged, and making a real difference, tackling the issues that matter most to people in their local area.

"That’s exactly what my Police and Crime Plan, together with the Government’s Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee, is delivering. As the public’s voice in policing, I’m working to make the county safer, a commitment that underpins everything my Office and I do.

“Every officer and staff member plays a vital role in delivering on the priorities that matter most to the public, and I will hold the Chief Constable to account for achieving the highest standards across the county.”
