Kids get creative to mark World Book Day

Youngsters dressed up in all sorts of wacky creations to mark World Book Day.

The 20th anniversary of the celebration of all things paperback (and hardback for that matter!) was marked across schools and nurseries on the Fylde coast.

They included pupils and staff at St Wulstan’s & St Edmund’s Primary in Fleetwood and Boundary School in Grange Park, Blackpool.

At St Wulstan’s, staff used the day to launch their new library.

Teacher Fiona Ormerod said: “The new library used to be the old staff room and it has been completely renovated.

“We have also launched a reading reward scheme where children will have bookmarks to fill in every time they read a library book. Once they have filled them, they will get a prize.”

“The children’s costumes look great and it’s all to encourage reading.”
