You can catch up with what happened at Blackpool Carers Centre after Nick Knowles, Laurence Llewelyn Bowen and co moved out and the charity moved in on Friday, October 13 when Beaverbrooks House on Newton Drive throws open its doors for the First Birthday Bash.

The charity’s HQ, named after the charitable trust which purchased the former NHS property for the centre’s use, was left derelict by metal thieves until the award winning TV makeover team transformed it last summer with the help of volunteers.

The independent local charity, which supports unpaid carers of all ages, will open at 12.30pm with the annual meeting, followed by buffet lunch at 1pm provided by long time supporters Spire Fylde Coast Hospital which also hosts health events at the centre.

From 2pm to 3.30pm carers, staff and volunteers will present updates on all services provided by Blackpool Carers Centre, and share hopes for the future, particularly for a proposed respite lodge for young carers and additional facilities for dementia support.

The Cash Quest for Carers awards follow at 4pm featuring all the teams who have been competing over the last four months to raise funds in support of the next Young Carers’ Champion.

The celebrations culminate with the announcement of the next Young Carers’ Champion.
