In less than two hours he sent the word ‘slut’ 300 times to his victim. The couple had just split up.

Richard Helm, 30, of Barnfield, Kirkham admitted harassing his victim with offensive text messages. Pam Smith, prosecuting at Blackpool Magistrates Court, said after the couple split up police were called to the victim’s address and police had to be called to remove him.

Later that day he sent the 300 unanswered messages bearing just the one word. She contacted police and Helm was issued with a warning notice.

However Helm did not take any notice and sent more messages. He had been drinking at the time. In her victim’s statement she said: “I am scared in my own home and it is starting to make me feel ill.

“It does not seem normal behaviour and it is obsessive and I want him to leave me alone.”

The victim asked the court for a restraining order. District Judge Rod Ross adjourned sentence so that reports can be prepared, until August 18.
