Jane’s memory to ‘live on’ in a song
Basement Jaxx duo Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe were so moved by the tragic death of mum-of-one Jane Clough that they performed their hit song Do Your Thing in her name.
Jane’s parents, John and Penny, her brother Pete and sister Louise, were given VIP backstage treatment and sat on the front row of the balcony at The Apollo in Manchester to witness the special moment.

She said: “It was amazing.
“That was Jane’s song. We played it at her funeral, and I play it whenever I go up to her memorial tree.
“Being there with Louise and Peter, it was as close to being a family as we could get.
“Jane would have loved it, she would have been there with us. It makes her live on a bit.

The song dedication came about after the band was contacted by Louise Brown, who worked with the family at a domestic violence event.
Mrs Clough, from Barrowford, east Lancashire, added: “It was fantastic that people made this happen.
“As soon as Felix and Simon had freshened up they came to meet us and we went backstage.

“They cared enough about what happened to Jane to do this, and as Jane’s family that is so meaningful.”
Jane was only 26 when she was murdered in July 2010 by her ex-partner Johnathan Vass, as she arrived for work at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
Vass, who was on bail at the time after being charged with nine counts of rape, was jailed for her murder.
