Jade Mia Smith, 16, of Poulton, received the Sheraton Trophy, which celebrates achievements by young people in Wyre, at the council’s annual general meeting at Wyre Civic Centre, Poulton.
Jade has been a volunteer with community development group URPotential for two years, and before that worked as a volunteer for the RSPCA and raised money for Brian House.

Hide AdShe is currently working with URPotential to deliver LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans) and awareness training to adults at the University of Cumbria and to young people at Cardinal Allen High School in Fleetwood.
However, the teenager has overcome several obstacles along the way.
Although she left school with seven GCSEs, she was hospitalised twice during her GCSE period with severe anxiety and has also faced discrimination over her sexual orientation.
Receiving the trophy, Jade said: “I’m grateful for the opportunities URPotential has given me and I enjoy helping other people. I feel proud of my achievements.”
