I'm a Blackpool mum with a heart condition, so I created an app so my family can check in

‘The app fills that gap with a daily check-in that notifies a trusted contact if a scheduled check-in was missed’

A tech savvy Blackpool mum has developed a smart new app to give lone parents peace of mind.

Faith Wright has launched Check My Child - an app targeted at single parents of babies, young children and children who would be unable to call for help, should an emergency arise.

If something unexpected happens and a parent was unable to ask for help, it could be difficult for anyone to know that help was needed.

The app fills that gap with a daily check-in that notifies a trusted contact if a scheduled check-in was missed.

Faith became a single parent when her daughter, Kassidy, was just 18-months-old.

She soon realised the fear that should something happen to her, Kassidy would be alone and even more so after a recent cardiac diagnosis requiring medication.

So she checked to see if there was anything already out there, only to find there wasn’t and decided to do something about it.

“When I became a single parent, I was introduced to fears that if something happened to me, Kassidy wouldn’t be able to fend for herself, she wouldn’t be able to call for help, so I looked for solutions and I couldn’t find any so I created one.

“The app is a simple daily check-in and if you don’t check-in, your trusted contact is alerted by a text message to tell them to check on you and your child.

“I’ve had 40 Beta testers on Facebook that were mainly single parents and the responses were brilliant, it was a safety net, reassurance and they helped me better the app in development.”

The app is now available to Apple users and through Play Store
