I’d do that turn easy - HGVs and lorries have 'bit of a problem' with u-turn at new road layout in Blackpool

“You can get round that in one go, you need to veer further out as you turn.”

HGV drivers using the new road to Blackpool enterprise zone are facing big problems turning at a junction.

Some lorry drivers appear to be struggling with the design of a newly-opened £18.5million access road which provides a vital link to Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone.

Film footage shot by a Blackpool-based YouTuber shows three heavy goods vehicles failing to negotiate a tight, right-hand turn onto the brand new Vickers Way, then having to stop before successfully making the manoeuvre.

It seems HGV navigate it more easily than rigid trucks.

Sean Ayrton said he was behind a Warburtons lorry that did it with ease but Serenity Lopez had seen two bus drivers ‘almost go into the fencing’ but was also behind alarge car transporter that did it with absolute ease.

Steve Owen compared it to the tight spaces he has to manouvre in the Lake District and confidently said he’d ‘do it with ease.’

He said: “They want to see some of the spaces and driveways I’ve got to get a 16 ton bin wagon to in the Lake District.

“Around Troutbeck and Hawkshead and many more , I’d do that turn easy.”

Mark Myles added: “You can get round that in one go, you need to veer further out as you turn.”

Making a comparision to the promenade, Elaine Furniss said: “Not even surprised. They made the promenade too narrow for two buses to pass so this is completely expected.”
