‘It was clear that the pupils care deeply for the community’

Children at Thornton Primary School are hoping to make big changes to the roads around their school.

They worry about heavy traffic, big wagons and areas without pavements and invited their MP, Lorraine Beaves, to listen to their concerns.

Lorraine, who is MP for Blackpool North and Fleetwood, spoke about how brilliant it was to meet the kids.

She said: “The children were passionate about their community and fighting hard to make things better with their brilliant teachers supporting them at every step of the way.

“As part of a recent social action programme, the teachers have been supporting the students campaigning for changes to the roads and pavements surrounding their school.

“With lots of traffic, big wagons, and areas without pavements there are real safety improvements that could be made by Lancashire County Council.

“It was really clear that the staff work incredibly hard to give their pupils the best education they can and that the pupils care deeply about their community”
