John Cutler, managing director of Premier Taxis in the town, is launching his second ‘Escape Room’ above Costa Coffee on the corner of Corporation Street and Church Street.

He is investing more than £100,000 in the venue which is based on similar destinations in the Hungarian capital.

Escape games see teams put together in a themed room where they find clues and work out codes to solve a puzzle in order to break free.

John, whose venture is due to open on August 25 after securing council planning permission, said: “I already run Escape Blackpool on Lytham Road and it is doing well.

“For this one we have been to Budapest which is the European capital of escape games, to bring their concept to Blackpool.

“We want ours to be the best of the best.

People travel all over the country and abroad to play these games, because it is a real adrenaline rush.

“So I think it will be another attraction for Blackpool but we also want to get local people playing too.”

There is also an escape games destination at Whyndyke Farm in Marton called Clue HQ.

John’s venture will be based on an Egyptian theme.

He added: “It’s suitable for all ages, from the age of 10 and is great for team bonding. It gives people a real buzz when they can solve the puzzle.”
