Hotel plan approved despite noise fears

A planning application seeking permission to extend the rear of the Royal Carlton Hotel on Blackpool Promenade has been approved by the council.

The application was agreed despite objections from two nearby residents who said they feared the scheme would cause noise disruption to them.

But following consultation with council inspectors, planners ruled the extension would not have a significant impact on neighbours.

The proposal will see the lounge of the hotel extended into a recessed area at the back of the hotel.

A report by planners says the extension would be “more of a solid structure than the existing lounge” and “in terms of being less glazed, noise level may well reduce”.

It was approved under delegated powers.
