Alex Huckerby, who is one of Blackpool Rocks’ organisers, has joined forces with his long term resident DJ Jay Fontalba to re-launch the hip hop club above Brannigans on Friday May 20.

Hush was formerly located in Talbot Square and was originally launched with Jay Fontalba and manager Emma Peoples in December 2002.

The venue developed a culture among locals with a love for RnB and HipHop and that remained until last year when the venue as we knew it closed.

Now Hush is back and will be open three nights a week in Market Street.

Alex said the 250 capacity club will offer the same intimate feel to the locals, a friendly party atmosphere.

Alex, who teams up with BBC Radio 1 DJ Danny Howard and Cuffe and Taylor for Blackpool Rocks each year, said: “We are very excited about this. There has been huge demand for the style of RnB and Hip Hop music that Hush was associated with.

“We have only just posted on Facebook and it has created a lot of interest already. I originally poached the main man from Hush a few years back DJ Jay Fontalba, we created a much loved venue called Crystal which is still a success today.

“Jay has played alongside some of the biggest names on the Urban scene – such as Trevor Nelson, Lethal Bizzle, Wretch 32 and Mista Jam, to name a few.

“Jay held his own Hush reunion night recently. It was a brilliant success, so together we want to bring this back for the people of Blackpool. The Hush family have been crying out for this.

“Hush will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays along with Bank Holiday Sundays.

“Jay will be on the decks every Friday and Saturday night and DJs Jack Sprigg and James Chum are taking over on Mondays.

“The venue has been totally refurbished and we have a brilliant sound system, exciting new DJ box and new lighting. There area four VIP booths, a VIP bar for those celebrating a special occasion and we have a sponsored Bacardi Bar.

“The beauty of having a 250 capacity venue is the personable element it adds to the night which makes it a much better experience for everyone.”
