The closure was confirmed by Fylde Council after a routine inspection of the popular seaside park facility highlighted issues affecting a section of the pool surface.

While the damage is understood to be limited the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety.

Council teams have moved quickly to arrange repairs with work now underway to restore the paddling pool to a safe and usable condition.

Officials say every effort is being made to complete the work as efficiently as possible in order to minimise disruption during the busy period for local families and visitors.

The paddling pool is a well-used seasonal attraction within Promenade Gardens, particularly during warmer months and school holidays and its temporary closure is likely to affect regular users of the site.

Fylde Council has said it will provide a further update once the repair work is sufficiently advanced and a reopening date can be confirmed.

Although the closure is expected to be short-term, the council has reiterated that safety remains its top priority and that action was taken immediately following the inspection findings.

A spokesperson from Fylde council, said: “Following a recent inspection, we've identified some localised surface damage within the paddling pool.

“As a precaution, and in line with our approach to safety, the pool will be temporarily closed while we carry out repairs.

“We are working to complete these as quickly as possible and will provide an update on reopening in due course. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Further information will be issued in due course as progress continues on site.
