Date set for inquest to be held at Blackpool Town Hall

A 68-year-old man from east Lancashire died at Blackpool Victoria Hospital’s regional cardiac centre during an operation.

An inquest is to be held at Blackpool Town Hall next month into the death of George Morrison, from Darwen, who was undergoing an elective procedure to check a heart implant which has fitted five years earlier.

A pre-inquest review heard that Mr Morrison’s blood pressure suddenly dropped during the procedure and a post mortem examination by consultant pathologist Dr Richard Shepherd found the cause of death to a haemorrhage due to vascular injuries.

Blackpool and Fylde senior coroner Alan Wilson said the date for the inquest had been set for November 18.
