Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said the upgrade – dubbed ‘RiO’ – will mean records can be accessed faster by everybody involved in the treatment of a patient.

The community neuro and stroke service was the first to get the system last month, the trust said.

Director of health informatics Damian Parkinson at Lancashire Care said the roll-out of the system was ‘going well’ and had been ‘effective’ in giving medics ‘access to timely, accurate information’.

Community neuro service manager Helen Farmer said that RiO had replaced two previous systems being used.
