‘He was one of the good guys’ - Twin brother’s heartfelt tribute to Poulton-le-Fylde man who has died at 40
The twin brother of a popular Poulton man who died last wek, has paid tribute to an ‘all-round great guy’.
Martin Marlow, 40, said his brother Nigel, who passed away unexpectedly on June 30, was one of the good guys, one of those who was always there for everyone else.
Nigel died after suffering a cardiac arrest, which came following a short illness.

When he fell ill, Martin promised him he would look after his two boys, Hugo (13) and Lorenzo Bardusco-Marlow (10) to make sure they have a positive start to adulthood.
And so he has launched a GoFundMe appeal to raise money for the two boys, an appeal which he wants to continue with over the next few years through fundraising events.
Nigel worked in advertising and his work took him all over the world working with some of the globe’s biggest organisations.
But his home was Poulton and everything he did was for his children.

“He invested everything into his kids and I want to carry that on for him,” said Martin.
Always the competitive one, Nigel was a sportsman and took part in local modelling competitions in his younger days.
He played junior football with Thornton Cleveleys Football Club youth team and also Blackpool Town schoolboys - even playing against Wayne Rooney before he hit the big time.
“He scored a penalty during that game,” said Martin, “unusual because he was a centre-back.”

“We went to Hodgson High School and he was a talented athlete - always the best, biggest and fastest!” he joked.
“We chased the same girls, always competitive! And then he won the Mr Blackpool contest one year, run by NTK.”
Nigel was a massive animal lover, his early days of his advertising career were spent selling advertising space for the RSPCA and any profits he gave back to the animal charity.
“I’ve had hundreds and hundreds of messages from people wanting to pay their respects, so many of them,” said Martin.

“We want to hold a memorial service for him where we will let off balloons and I’m organising a charity raffle of prizes for the GoFundMe appeal.
“He was always a big supporter of everything and everyone - it wouild be nice to have a bit of that back.”
Nigel leaves a loving wife and extended family members. The dates and details for his funeral have yet to be confirmed.
