Mayor Coun Peter Hardy and mayoress Sheila Hardy are appealing for donations of raffle and tombola prizes and would also like local businesses to get in touch to place advertisements in the evening’s brochure.

Entertainment at the ball will be by singer Bruce McLaren and proceeds will go to the mayor’s charities Barnardo’s, Fylde Scouts and Guides, Kirkham Rural Splash and Fylde Citizens Advice Bureau, with the money raised to be added to other funds raised and shared out at the end of their year in office.

Events held for the mayoral fund so far have included coffee mornings at the Town Hall and the Fylde Scout HQ, but the ball is a key part of the fund-raising itinerary and Coun Hardy said: “All the organisations adopted as this year’s mayoral charities do a first-class job in the community – but they require money to do their work.

“Sheila and I are proud to support them and urge as many citizens as possible to turn up and help raise funds on their behalf. I’m looking forward to seeing lots of people at the charity ball which is always one of the highlights of the civic year. They will have a great time and help these charities continue their good work for Fylde.”Tickets, including a meal, are available for £35 from mayoral secretary Joanne Collins on (01253) 658505 or [email protected]. Mrs Collins is also the contact for prize donations and brochure donations.
