Celebrities including Al Murray, Bill Bailey, Rhod Gilbert and Shappi Khorsandi have recorded video messages of support to help quitters through this difficult challenge.

With the smoking ban in cars coming into effect from October 1 and e-cigarettes to be restricted to over 18s it has never been a better time join the nation and stop.

Julie Trezise, Quit Squad Service Manager at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: ‘‘As a service our mission is to help as many people as possible stop smoking for good.

“Evidence shows that you are five times more likely to quit for good if you complete the challenge. Smoking is one of the biggest causes of illness and preventable death accounting for 80,000 deaths in England a year.”
