The good old days in the classroom
These glorious black-and-white shots show just some of the area’s youngsters enjoying their school days throughout the decades over the last century.
All aspects of school life can be seen, including some of the latest modern developments in the classroom – here pupils at Larkholme Junior School in Fleetwood, learn how to use a new computer, in 1982.

Hide AdAnd energy minister David Hunt was pictured reading a story to youngsters at Hawes Side Primary School, as its new library was unveiled, in January 1987.
Meanwhile, pupils gave governors a science lesson at Hall Park Primary School, in February 1991 – demonstrating experiments and showing examples of their work.
There are celebrations shown – including Devonshire Road School winning the new heap trophy in the Open Competition, at Blackpool Musical Festival, in 1913, and youngsters at Hawes Side being given commemorative silver jubilee mugs, in 1977.
Children at Grange Park Infants School got a close look at a film star, in April 1974 when Herbie – the car starring in its own films, visited their school, as part of a road safety scheme.

Hide AdSome of the photos show an end of an era, for example children outside Beach Junior School, in Cleveleys, before it closed in August 1988. The youngsters were lucky enough to get three extra days off school for the summer holidays because of the changes.
And Mrs E Bell, a “lollipop lady” – school crossing patrol – is pictured talking to some of the children, before helping them across the road for the last time in 1971
