George’s Ale House is a tipple delight!

A micropub in Fylde has opened its doors to thirsty punters.

Number 10 Ale House on Park Road, St Annes is the brainchild of George White, 56, from Marton, who has ploughed £20,00 into the venture.

He has three real ales on tap each day, which are changed daily, to give aficianados a wide range of top ales to try out.

The lease for the small haunt was only secured in October by George, who worked for the RoyalMail for 20 years previously.

Numebr 10 Ale House in St Annes

The property on Park Road was formerly a furniture shop and, sporadically, a charity shop.

George, alongside wife Alyson, 54, also hope to start up a bottle club for locals with a passion for rare ales.

He said: “I’d like to encourage a few themes such as a bottle club and allow customers to bring in their own ale to taste and compare.

“We won’t be having any entertainment, just some background music and traditional bar snacks, our main focus is the different ales we’ll be serving, and producing a traditional atmosphere.”

The grand opening saw the Mayor of St Annes cut the red ribbon and members of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) making an appearance to sample George’s ale selection.

With the interior remaining quite low key, George has sourced chic style furniture and even managed to snap up some unwanted pieces from the Tower Lounge in Blackpool.

“We’ll be sourcing some of our ales from the Chapel Street Brewery in Lytham with the hope of seeking out new ales from other sources.

“We are really looking forward to what all this will bring.” added George.

With the doors of Number 10 now officially open George and family were overwhelmed with the opening response.

“The evening was absolutely fantastic. We were a full house, a brilliant turn out, we actually ran out of beer.

“The whole weekend was so busy that we’ve decided to open on Mondays as well now.

“It’s always nerve-wracking not knowing what to expect but we are so pleased, a complete mixture of people and as I always say, the more the merrier.”
