Gate bid to block use of danger link road

A metal gate blocking the use of a crumbling link road between south Fylde and Blackpool has been installed.

A month after Lancashire County Council revealed Wild Lane, also known as the Moss Road, would remain shut until April 2015, a metal gate has been constructed at the junction of Division Lane to prevent traffic movement.

The busy route, used by hundreds of commuters everyday, was closed by police in August after a series of accidents following issues with the carriageway.

It was due to re-open in February, but no party was prepared to pay the cost of repairs, estimated at more than £300,000.

Lancashire County Council’s public realm manager, Sim Lane Dixon, said the closure would allow repairs to take place.
