Fylde’s number one pub set for revamp
Brewery Greene King has applied to Fylde Council for planning permission to make major changes to the The Taps pub in Henry Street, Lytham.
The pub, recently named Pub of the Year by the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), is set to re-house its toilet block, create a new side entrance and expand its outdoor seating area.

He added: “It is a development of The Taps we think will be good for the public and improve The Taps going forward.
“The pub will still be what it has always been – a traditional pub with traditional values.
“There is just one or two things we feel we need to improve for the good of our customers. One of the main changes will be the toilets.

“That will obviously allow more floor space.
“For any of our customers who come on a busy night they will know how helpful that is.
“The chance to sit at a table rather than stand certainly applies to many of our female customers.
“Where the gents toilets is will become double doors which open out into an outside area.

“There will be a new entrance from Henry Street with iron gates which allow people to enter from the back part of the pub.”
Other plans include the replacement of wooden flooring with a new wooden layout, as well as improvements to the back bar.
Mr Norris added Fylde Council officers had visited the pub and had positive discussions over the plans.

“Lytham has a cafe quarter and we want to join that.
“We are hoping to start work on the improvements in May or June.”
