Founded in 1996, Performance Springs (now Melling Performance Springs) has gone on to establish themselves as a leading innovator in the field of high performance spring technology and bespoke spring manufacturing, with a global reputation for excellence, quality, and reliability.
Putting Fylde on the map
“You'd be amazed what goes into making a spring!” said Andrew Snowden MP. “A great visit to Melling Performance Springs in St Annes to see first-hand the skill, precision and engineering expertise behind products that are used around the world.
“Manufacturing like this is easy to overlook, but businesses like these are creating jobs, exporting globally and putting Fylde firmly on the map. Thanks to the team for showing me around.”

New bespoke machines
The company, based at their St Annes HQ near Blackpool Airport, has been an engineering mainstay on the Fylde coast since moving to the region from Preston in 1998 and was purchased by the American Melling Tool Company in 2020.
“We gave Andrew a tour of our facility, explained how we make a compression spring and highlighted some of the new bespoke machines currently being designed and built in-house,” read a statement from Melling Performance Springs. “Andrew took the opportunity to meet employees from the shop floor and offices and give his views on the current state of events both at Westminster and around the world.”
