Fylde Council names Cllr Vince Settle as new deputy leader ahead of May annual meeting
Fylde Council has confirmed a leadership change with a new Deputy Leader set to take office at the annual meeting in May.
Fylde Council has appointed a new Deputy Leader following a Full Council meeting held this week.
Cllr Vince Settle, who represents the Heyhouses ward, has been named as the authority’s new Deputy Leader. He will formally take up the position on Wednesday 13 May, coinciding with the council’s annual meeting.

The appointment comes after current Deputy Leader Cllr Richard Redcliffe confirmed he will step down from the role. Cllr Redcliffe has served as Deputy Leader since 2023 and will transition to a new civic position later this year.
At the same annual meeting in May, Cllr Redcliffe is set to take on the ceremonial role of Mayor of the Borough of Fylde for the 2026/27 municipal year.

The change marks a reshuffle within the council’s senior leadership team ahead of the new civic year.
Cllr Settle’s appointment ensures continuity within the administration, with responsibilities transferring at a key point in the council’s governance calendar.
Fylde Council’s annual meeting is traditionally when senior roles, including the Mayor and Deputy Leader, are formally confirmed for the year ahead.
Cllr Settle, as the incoming Deputy Leader, will work alongside the council’s leadership team in overseeing key decisions and supporting the delivery of council priorities across Fylde.
The formal handover will take place at the annual council meeting on 13 May, when both appointments will be confirmed.
The appointment was approved by Full Council at its meeting on Tuesday 14 April.
