Fylde coast's kids to travel for FREE across August in new scheme

“We are delighted to be participating in this scheme, which is particularly welcome as many families are struggling with the cost of living.”

Blackpool Transport has announced that children aged 5-15 will be able to travel for free of charge on buses throughout the month of August.

The new scheme comes as part of the Great British Summer Savings scheme, a Government-led initiative which is being rolled out across the country.

Lea Harrison, Blackpool Transport’s Managing Director, explained: “We are delighted to be participating in this scheme, which is particularly welcome as many families are struggling with the cost of living.

“We already offer free travel to under-fives, but extending this offer to other school-age children will help families save a few pounds that they can spend on a few well-earned treats while they’re out and about over the summer,” Harrison added.

Adults can also enjoy discounted travel on Blackpool Transport services by purchasing a ‘Duo’ ticket, offering two people a day’s unlimited travel across buses and trams for £10.

Additionally, Two adults and up to three children under the age of 16 can enjoy unlimited travel on buses and trams for £15 throughout the holidays.
