Fylde coast woman's safety first win
This year’s Safety Groups UK Health and Safety Awards 2018, held at the House of Lords, saw Claire Oakes, SHEQ director at Create Construction, win the Maurice Adamson Award, presented by Lord Brougham and Vaux.
The Safety Groups UK annual Health and Safety awards ceremony celebrates the achievements and efforts of members over the past year. The Maurice Adamson award, in particular, recognises the “Outstanding contribution from an individual to the Safety Groups Movement”.

Hide AdAny elected member of a safety group’s committee is invited to nominate an individual for the award.
Claire’s nomination, from several members of the group, saw her named as the first female to win the award.
Madeleine Abas, senior partner of Osborn Hut Solicitors said: “It has been no surprise that Claire’s career has progressed from health and safety advisor, to, now SHEQ director at Create Construction, due to her knowledge and dedication to improving safety performance.”
