The contract has been signed that, subject to planning approval, will see a new Seniors restaurant and takeaway opening in the Teanlowe Centre, adjacent to Queensway, near Costa Coffee.

The family owned local chain has stores at Normoss, Bispham, Lytham, St Annes, and at Thornton which was crowned the UKs best takeaway in 2012.

If the planning application is approved, a new shop front will be installed in what is currently a wall to the right of the existing Costa shop-front.

Works will include a full fit-out, new furniture and interior decoration to complete the transformation.

Assuming that the initial plan and build stages run smoothly, the store is set to open in February 2018. As a new departure for the Seniors brand, the Poulton store will also serve fresh, oven cooked chicken.

And the company is celebrating having its St Annes shop nominated for the finals of the 30th anniversary National Fish and Chip Awards, from Seafish in January.

Managing director Alastair Horabin said: “With five Seniors shops here on the Fylde Coast we’re always looking at where the business could go next.

“This site at Poulton ticks all the boxes for us and we’re hoping that everything will go well and we can open next February and be part of the town.”

Once open, the new store will create up to 10 new jobs. Anyone who has visited the Normoss shop will recognise the new manager at Poulton, as plans are that Paula Smith will take over the shop.

Paula has been with Seniors since 2000 and joined the company when she was just 14 years old.

Alastair added: “This is great news for the business and for the town as it will provide choice for local people and new jobs.

“For the business signing the lease comes at the same time as the good news that the St Annes store has been shortlisted as one of the top 20 stores in the National Fish and Chip Awards 2018, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed for that!”
