Now his daughter Claire Hull, 29, has organised a fund-raiser in his memory to mark the anniversary of his death.

The night-time charity event will take place at St John the Evangelist RC Church off Breck Road in Poulton on Friday from 7pm.

Funeral director Claire said: “It’s going to be a really fun night. My dad used to love plays, so we’re having a projector set up to watch one of his shows, and we’re having a quiz, raffle, and auction.

“We’ve had some fantastic prizes donated by local businesses.”

Mr Hull, director at C T Hull Funeral Services, in Birch Way, Poulton, worked at the football club until 2006 before retiring.

He was a keen theatre enthusiast and enjoyed writing his own plays.

All money raised in his memory will go towards the refurbishment of St John the Evangelist RC Church and to the haematology department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Claire said: “The church was a place very close to his heart and he was a big member there.”
